Brooke Shields Pays Respects to Michael Jackson Tue, 7-Jul-2009 Paying respects to her longtime friend, Brooke Shields was among the stars to take the stage at Staples Center for the Michael Jackson Memorial Tribute on Tuesday (July 7).
Fighting back tears, Brooke told the crowd, "Michael was one of a kind...Michael always knew he could count on me to be his date. Michael tried in vain one night to unsuccessfully teach me the Moonwalk. Michael loved to laugh. MJ's laugh was the sweetest and purest laugh. His sense of humor was delightful, and he was very mischievous."
Upon finishing up on stage, Shields took a long look at Jackson’s casket before returning back to her seat for the rest of the tribute.
Prior to today’s ceremony, Brooke spoke a bit to Rolling Stone about losing her pal, telling, “Nothing was jaded about him. I just was so impressed by his sweetness He was thoughtful, sensitive, sweet, and had a funny sense of humor. If you got to talk to him about music or about the future of technology, his voice would get deeper, he would start talking, and it was as if he was this genius." |
