Joe Joackson Takes In the BET Awards Tributes Mon, 29-Jun-2009
Making a surprise appearance on the red carpet, Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, was on-hand as a special guest at the BET Awards held at Los Angeles's Shrine Auditorium on Sunday evening (June 28).
Wearing a dark suit with sunglasses and matching hat, Joe spoke with press on-hand, telling, "I wish the world had recognized him when he was living. Right now, he's bigger than ever. But I wish he was here to see all this, to hear all this."
Meanwhile, the awards show was stacked with tribute upon tribute to Jackson, with host Jamie Foxx mentioning the King of Pop throughout his opening speech to performances by Beyoncé, Ne-Yo, and Bobby Brown.
Garnering best male athlete during the night's show, NBA star LeBron James added his condolences, saying, "My heart and prayers go out to the whole Jackson family. What they did for us ... was amazing." |
