Rihanna Ashamed Over Chris Brown Romance Thu, 5-Nov-2009 Rihanna felt it was her time and duty to tell her fans about what happened to her that night with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.
The Barbadian singer is so upset with what happened, she’s even ashamed that she got into a relationship with him in the first place.
In the interview with Diane Sawyer, she told, “I fell in love with this person. That’s embarrassing.”
The singer also suggested that it may have taken “eight or nine attempts” before she could get up and leave the relationship.
The 21 year-old explained, “It’s pretty easy to go back. You start lying to yourself. The physical wounds go away. You want this thing to go away. This is a memory you don’t ever want to ever happen again.”
And what about reconciliation? A judge has ordered Brown not to contact Rihanna for five years as part his sentence.
When the photo of Rihanna’s bruised and battered face got into the public, she was more than humiliated.
"I was like, here goes my little bit of privacy," she says.
But she wanted her actions to make an effect on thousands of girls after the assault occurred.
"When I realized that my selfish decision for love could result in some young girl getting killed, I could not be easy with that part," she says. "I couldn't be responsible for that. Even if Chris never hit me again, who's to say their boyfriend won't? Who's to say they won't kill these girls? I didn't realize how much of an impact I had on these girls' lives until that happened."
