Salma Hayek: 40 is the New 30 Fri, 6-Feb-2009 Salma Hayek is telling everyone that 40 is the new 30. The actress, 42, told USA Today, “When you turn 40, it’s a lot easier than 30. They lied when they said you get old when you’re 40. The best is the 40s.”
In September 2007, Hayek gave birth to a daughter, Valentina. But when it comes to more children, she says “maybe” – adding that her age will never be a determination of expanding the family.
“I had her at 41. I don’t sleep because she doesn’t sleep, but I have a lot of energy. I don’t feel like, ‘Oh my God, this is too late.’”
And speaking of mothers and children, Hayek launched the second annual Pampers/UNICEF program on Thursday in a continuing effort to eliminate tetanus in mothers and their children.
Hayek recently visited Sierra Leone for UNICEF, where she saw much sadness. “We went to a hospital, which was shocking. The conditions…there was nothing to administer the vaccinations-they don’t have alcohol, clean water or electricity. There was a child that was the age of Valentina that was half the size of Valentina…it is just heartbreaking.”
Hayek was very thankful for her life and daughter after going through the experience. “I appreciate everything in my life more. I want to be a part of making a difference for them. I appreciate that my little baby is healthy. I thank God everyday that she is healthy.”
As far as another part of Hayek’s life, her ex-fiancé and daughter’s father, Francois-Henri Pinault, she says, “[He] is the best father. I was meant to have this baby with this man. The French billionaire and the beauty called off their engagement in July but are still a couple.
Continuing about her babydaddy, she said, “I am so happy I didn’t settle and I waited for him. Had I not, I don’t know what my life would be like. You always have to believe there’s a greater future and you have to recognize it when it comes.” |
